Like other seasonal events, the holidays featured in Final Fantasy 14 have real-world counterparts that they draw inspiration from. The previous holiday featured in the game was the annual Heavensturn event, which was based on the Lunar New Year and focused on the Year of the Rabbit this time. The game’s seasonal holidays last for no more than two weeks at a time, and the rewards from previous iterations of any given holiday are made available one year after their initial debut via the Final Fantasy 14 Online Store....

According to Daniel Ahmad, a game industry analyst at Niko Partners, Final Fantasy 15 sold over 5 million units worldwide in the game’s first five days. That’s enough to make Final Fantasy 15 the fastest-selling game in the series. That’s an impressive feat on its own, but considering how many games are in the Final Fantasy franchise, and the massive amounts of hype that lead up to each new release in the series, that’s a solid start for Square Enix’s new title....

According to Hajime Tabata, Final Fantasy 15 was able to break even on its development costs on launch day. How many copies did that require? Surprisingly, only half of what was predicted. Five million copies were needed to recoup expenses, which was a small task for the fastest selling game in the series. It’s no secret that Final Fantasy 15 is a success, but it’s also no secret that the game had to overcome significant hurdles during its decade-long development....

A few weeks back, Final Fantasy 16 producer Yoshi-P implied that a release date announcement would come before the end of the year, and everyone pointed to The Game Awards as a potential stage for that. This was followed by reports that pre-orders for the game would open around December 8, the date of The Game Awards, and it was recently confirmed that Yoshi-P would be there. There’s a lot swirling around this potential announcement, and the latest development is the release date in full potentially leaking online....

Currently, only the first section of the Final Fantasy 3 anniversary interview is available, focusing on Tanaka’s experience and how development differed between the games that came before the third series entry, and after. It’s likely that the next section of the interview, focused on Ishii, will give a better view at his work as an object designer and possibly dipping into his history as the director of the Mana series which just recently launched the incredible Trials of Mana remake....

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is not the only game in the Final Fantasy 7 universe to be receiving a new title. The 25th anniversary broadcast also included the announcement of a remake of Crisis Core, a prequel starring Cloud’s friend Zack Fair, who is extremely important to the backstory and lore of the original Final Fantasy 7. The remake will be titled Crisis Core Reunion, possibly hinting at a reunion between either Cloud and Zack or Zack and his potential love interest Aerith....

Reddit user ManticMistvein uploaded a short gif showcasing their Cloud Strife cosplay to the r/gaming subreddit earlier today, complete with the armored shoulder pad, ridiculous spiky anime hair, and a life-sized Buster Sword. The cosplayer said their goal was to “define those in-game physics” through the look, which is apparent by how easily their Cloud is able to carry, unhook, and wield it despite the buster sword not being recreated using cardboard as other fans have attempted in the past....

Actor Asuka Yoshikawa does the motion capture for Aerith in Final Fantasy 7 Remake, as well as for the upcoming sequel episode. She shared a message for her fans on Twitter recently discussing just that. In the message, she explains that she’s just finished a four-hour shoot with another character’s mocap actor, that character being Sephiroth. She adds that the staff doing the recording praised the two of them for their work....
