Just based on the narrative threads and inferences made in the first episode, subsequent parts of the remake will likely be very different from the original game. Overarching beats of the original game’s narrative will mostly remain the same, but the moment-to-moment storytelling in Final Fantasy 7 Remake will likely diverge in several key moments. Given the nature of the first episode’s hints and ending, it’s going to be impossible to pinpoint exactly where the subsequent story will shift, but it’s clear that a lot of key details are changing....

The latest piece of info comes from Hajime Tabata of Square Enix, the game director on Final Fantasy 15, as he has revealed an interesting tidbit about how Final Fantasy 7 Remake is being developed. Tabata confirmed that Final Fantasy 7 Remake will not use Square Enix’s powerful in-house game engine Luminous....
So, don’t get me wrong here, the trailer is visually incredible, but it isn’t selling me on the game itself. I mean, sure, great looking cinematics and visually stunning environments are nice to have, heck, they are necessary in a trailer. But that isn’t all that is necessary. The trailer that they’ve released is lacking hard in one category–gameplay. The gameplay is not showing through enough at all. I mean, we know all the classes in the game, we know the races....

Let’s not forget that Final Fantasy XIII was in the works as a PS2 game as well, adding to the overall development time for the latest Final Fantasy installment. I don’t know though, as much as I love to see great remakes of classic games, I don’t really see the need to remake FFVII, especially when there’s a few other titles that I would prefer to see remade. Vagrant Story, which wasn’t a Square-Enix game, was still incredible and I think very underestimated by gamers....
So yes, the colors will remind you of the Cowboys. The only disappointing thing is that we don’t have a picture of Jerry Jones’ face in the center circle. The big Final Four logo is disappointing.
