Shortly after the release of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 1, producer Yoshinori Kitase stated that, “from here on out, we’re not drastically changing the story and making it into something completely different than the original.” This is to preserve the nostalgia that many older fans went into the title with, and it’s a good philosophy to have. However, it begs the question whether or not that means the Whispers are gone; after all, while this is not an exact confirmation that they won’t return, they only exist because of the changes to destiny (otherwise known as the original FF7 story)....

As it turns out, Square Enix is utilizing Unreal Engine 4 to power Final Fantasy 7 Remake. This may come as a surprise to fans, as Square Enix has their own in-house Luminous Engine. The Luminous Engine has proven more than capable of providing the visuals needed for Final Fantasy 7 Remake, as it is being used for Final Fantasy 15, a game that is no slouch in the graphics department itself....

While fans looking forward to the Final Fantasy 7 Remake are expecting a lot of the original title’s core mechanics and elements to stay in place, the game’s director, Tetsuya Nomura, has previously mentioned that some plot and gameplay changes will occur. As a matter of fact, in a recent interview with Official PlayStation Magazine (with the aid of GamesRadar), Nomura-san teases specific alterations by saying that the team behind the FF7 Remake will be crafting “dramatic changes” to the upcoming release’s Active Time Battle system....

The word is that a new, unannounced game titled Final Fantasy Origin is on its way to the PS5, and that it’s likely to take a few cues from the iconic Dark Souls series. As of yet, none of this has been confirmed by Square Enix. However, the prospect of the series going in a new direction, Team Ninja supposedly being attached to the project, and also its possible ties to the series’ roots, have proven more than enough to get fans on board with this allegedly in-development title....

Endwalker’s grapes became an immediate meme when the Final Fantasy 14 expansion launched earlier in December. Found in the new Labyrinthos region, the grapes are briefly but prominently displayed as part of Endwalker’s main questline. What stands out about these grapes is their low-polygon visuals. They were impressively low quality and Final Fantasy 14 fans loved that. Square Enix, however, took it somewhat personally and updated the grapes in Endwalker’s new patch....

The characters that fans fell in love with are Venat, Hermes, Emet-Selch, Meteion, and Hythlodaeus during the unsundered world part of the Endwalker story. While the player sort of already knew these characters from what becomes of them in the future, this part of Endwalker’s story offered a completely new look at these characters and who they were. Many fans have deemed the unsundered world part of the story to be the best Endwalker offered, with the new characters stealing the show from the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, at least in terms of stealing the hearts of the fans....

Final Fantasy 12 and 13 both used reinterpretations of the ATB system, and Final Fantasy 11 and 14 borrowed from other MMORPGs. Final Fantasy 15 marked the franchise’s shift into real-time action combat, though the Final Fantasy 7 Remake incorporated the series’ classic menu structure into a real-time-with-pause system. Final Fantasy 16 is set to carry on what FF15 started, aiming to be a fast-paced action game that could have open-world elements....

For those who are unaware, the first half of Final Fantasy 15 is an open-world that takes place in Lucis while the second half shifts the gameplay towards a more linear progression and takes place on the continent of Niflheim. However, YouTuber Caelum Rabanastre XII/XV recently discovered a new glitch which allows players to go out of the map’s usual confines during the game’s linear Niflheim half, giving gamers the chance to explore a whole second continent....

In an interview with GameSpot, Final Fantasy 15 game director Hajime Tabata provided a surprisingly candid response to a question regarding potential sequels: Reading between the lines, Tabata clearly states that there are no plans for direct sequels – whether they star protagonist Noctis or just continue the story. That leaves a bit of wiggle room for other games set in the same world, but these days all Final Fantasy titles are tied to the same universe in one way or another....

Since the development team has access to the original game’s assets, it would seem obvious that making a port is easier than creating a full game, but Hajime Tabata’s team still has their work cut out for them with Final Fantasy 15. Not only will the title boast additional features over its console counterpart, it also needs to be ready to ship by early 2018, leaving the developers little time to complete their project....

Details about FF16 are still scarce, as only one trailer exists. Most information fans have had to work with came from the game’s official website which has laid out the basics about some of its characters and the various kingdoms. As one of the most anticipated games of the new generation, Final Fantasy 16 is already garnering a lot of speculation about where the story might go. One of the pivotal areas in the game is shaping up to be the Iron Kingdom, an isolationist and militant society that has a very different view on the nature, and necessary fate, of the Dominants....

Excitement has been running through the Final Fantasy online communities as they wonder how the story, characters, and gameplay will develop in this new iteration. Already, fans have figured out some details from the trailers, such as the belief that Joshua dies, leading Clive down a darker path in Final Fantasy 16. Recently, the game’s producer Naoki Yoshida sat down with IGN to discuss some more details on the game, including confirming that Final Fantasy 16 will not feature an expansive open world like Final Fantasy 15....

Now gamers are waiting for the second part of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, speculating on what will be seen when the sequel eventually releases. While theories are spreading around the world about what the experience will be like when the game comes out, one player is anticipating Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2 in their own way. The only details missing from the soundtrack’s official Square Enix page seem to be its cover art, which isn’t too surprising. The cover art of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Plus soundtrack didn’t appear with its project’s reveal either. Tetsuya Nomura hand-drew a new illustration of Cloud Strife for the project and didn’t finish it until sometime after the track’s reveal. The Intergrade soundtrack might be in a similar situation; only it’s waiting on a new Yuffie illustration....

Some players may have ignored Yuffie on their first playthrough of Final Fantasy 7, not realizing that the result of missing out on the character means missing out on two of the most interesting side quests in the original game. On the other hand, there are plenty of players who find her childish behavior and the fact that she steals the party’s materia in her side quest to be annoying....
