Not everyone agrees with me. Many players were complaining about the numerous bugs - claiming that the release date will have to be pushed back to accommodate for the game’s problems. However, FFXIV is still full steam ahead - as beta testing on the game is now headed into phase two.

According to the official FFXIV twitter, the second beta phase started on Thursday (July 29th).

One of the biggest issues that people had with the first phase of testing was that the servers were not constantly online - and as such testing could only happen when the servers were up. In beta phase two, the developer is promising the servers will be up 24/7. Hopefully the testers don’t whither away in the glow of their monitors - never to see the light of day again.

The move into phase two, I hope, means that the bugs are being fixed and the game is running properly. A third phase is planned, and if Square Enix keeps up this pace - they’ll have no problems hitting their September deadline.

Now all we have to do is get them to release the game on the Xbox 360 as well.

Final Fantasy XIV, if all goes well, will be available on September 30th for PC. PS3 owners will have to wait until March of 2011.
