Square Enix has been giving periodic updates and seasonal content for Final Fantasy 7: The First Soldier, with the third season providing a new weapon type, style class, and new series of cosmetics. These cosmetics pull from all corners of Final Fantasy 7’s mythos, including its spin-off games like Crisis Core. Another set of cosmetics based on another spin-off, Dirge of Cerberus, is available for a limited time for fans to obtain.

These set of cosmetics are based on Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy 7’s villainous faction the Deepground. More specifically, these skins are based on the most well known members of the organization, Weiss, Nero, Rosso, and Shelke, who are available in the Advanced Shinra Packs. Most of these skins have both male and female variations for players to wear in-game. These skins are available until August 31, with the official website stating these limited time items may be available again in future updates.

Players of Final Fantasy 7: The First Soldier can obtain multiple copies of the same Weiss skin, with these duplicates contributing to awards such as alternate skins and special effects. These alternate skins include one based on Weiss’ Empowered State, along with special animations for killing an enemy or diving off of a helicopter and landing in battle. Other accessories such as Weiss’ swords and Deepground items can also be obtained during this period.

Fans might be surprised to see these costumes based on such a maligned piece of Final Fantasy 7’s history. Dirge of Cerberus was a mixed bag for fans and critics, with many either criticizing the game for its shallow story and lackluster third-person shooting mechanics. Despite the game being not one of the most fondly remembered of Final Fantasy 7’s spin-off games, the game was still referenced in Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Intergrade, with a full story involving Weiss, Nero, and more members of Deepground in Yuffie’s Episode.
