Final Fantasy 7’s Buster Sword is just as iconic as - if not more than - the many characters that have originated from the classic Final Fantasy series entry and its various spin-offs and sequels. Carried by both Cloud Strife and Zack Fair, the behemoth of a bladed weapon is extremely recognizable, even among gamers who aren’t fans of JRPGs.

Now, Square Enix has crafted a giant Buster Sword replica that’s true to scale but soft and plushy. The giant plush is similar in design to a body pillow, and could be used as one, considering its size. The official FFVIIR_CLOUD account on Twitter is hosting the giveaway, which is sadly only open to Japanese citizens. Users who follow the account and send out a tweet containing ‘#リミット技を発動’, translated as ‘#Activate Limit Technique’ will be entered into the contest.

Final Fantasy 7 has seen a lot of expensive merchandise released over the years, ranging from the Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s Collector’s Edition, to thousand-dollar watches, to items that have sold for outlandish prices on resale markets due to extreme rarity, like the legendary Final Fantasy 7 Aerith music box. This item doesn’t have a particular value attached to it, but as only one exists, it’s sure to take the place in someone’s collection as treasured piece.

The Buster Sword is an extremely popular gaming icon, and as a result, this is far from the first piece of merchandise created based upon the design. Players have been able to pick up smaller replicas, including some with actual utility, like a Buster Sword letter opener. It’s just one of Final Fantasy’s many unusual and unique weapon designs over the years, including follow-up Final Fantasy 8’s Gunblades and Final Fantasy 10’s Brotherhood water sword. As more young gamers are introduced to the world of Final Fantasy 7 through the upcoming remake releases, the sword will only become more iconic and well-known.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion is available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and PC.
