The first installment featured solid voice talent to fill out its many roles, even attracting notable actors such as John DiMaggio of Futurama and Adventure Time fame. Final Fantasy 7 Remake only covered a small chunk the story, adapting what is essentially the contents of the first disc in the original PS1 release. This means fan-favorite antihero Vincent Valentine has yet to be introduced, and there is much speculation as to who exactly should voice him in Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2. From big industry names to choices a little outside the box, a number of actors would do a great job in the role.

Steve Blum
The obvious choice would be for Steve Blum to return to the role, considering he already has experience playing the character. His brooding tone of voice brought Vincent Valentine to life in both Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy 7. For many fans, Blum’s voice is what comes to mind when seeing an image of the character now, as he brought gravitas to the role. Blum has practically made an entire career out of playing tough guys, be it Wolverine in multiple Marvel TV and video game projects or Ares in the original PS2 God of War title.
James McCaffrey
James McCaffrey is mainly a film and television actor, but has dabbled in the realm of video games. His most iconic game performance is the titular protagonist of the Max Payne series. His gruff yet sarcastic edge creates a tough-as-nails, gleefully sardonic voice acting performance. Beyond this, McCaffrey has remained friendly with Max Payne developer Remedy, returning to lend his voice to characters in games such as Control and Alan Wake.
Paul Mercier
While his name may not be instantly familiar to the uninitiated, the character he portrayed in Resident Evil 4 most certainly is. Leon S. Kennedy was played with a “too cool for school” bravado, even in the face of unspeakable terrors throughout the course of his adventure. A quality like this may be fun to explore with Vincent Valentine in Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2, providing a new layer to the character. Naturally, the foundation of Vincent’s personality shouldn’t change too much, but adding a touch of snark to hint at a character desensitized to the evils around him may be a fun spin.
Sam Witwer
Lastly, Sam Witwer would make another solid choice to don the red cape of Vincent Valentine in Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2. Similar to the aforementioned options, Sam is known for playing tough guys, but he is also more than capable of bringing nuance and emotion to his many roles. Perhaps most commonly recognized in the gaming world as Starkiller in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Deacon St. John in Days Gone, Witwer is excellent at playing characters with difficult pasts, something that would be key in voicing Vincent Valentine.
