RELATED: Final Fantasy 7 Remake Players At Risk of Losing Their Pre-Orders

According to Square Enix, the situation involving COVID-19 has complicated its release plans with partnering retailers. Final Fantasy 7 Remake will still arrive in April as scheduled, but some players may not receive their copy on day one. The developer isn’t sure either way because its retailers have different policies across different regions, and these policies may change depending on how the situation with the virus plays out.

However, Square is doing everything in its power to ensure that fans that have pre-ordered Remake will get their copy the day the game releases. It’s monitoring the situation carefully and will come back to fans on Friday, March 20, with more information. All in all, delaying the game’s official release date would be something of a last resort.

However, it is admittedly regrettable that some fans who have pre-ordered the game may not receive their copy the moment it releases. If this turns out to be the case, Square’s Friday statement may reveal when they’ll get the game instead.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake will launch for the PlayStation 4 on April 10, 2020.
