And as one would expect, the trailer comes jam-packed with information from start to finish. And just like the trailer celebrating Final Fantasy 7’s 23 anniversary, this one explores scenes throughout the whole of the game.

Fans should note before watching the trailer that its full of spoilers, and not just spoilers from the 23-year-old Final Fantasy 7 either. When addressing FF7 Remake’s erratic release date brought on by the coronavirus, Square Enix asked fans not to spoil the game due to it having some surprising twist and turns that the original did not. This trailer, however, isn’t shy about revealing these. But, here’s a spoiler-free rundown of what it shows:

Nearly every character in the game makes an appearance here. Fans get to see Rude, Reno, Sephiroth, President Shinra, and many more, including some of the new characters like Chadley, Chocobo Sam, and Roche. Don Corena’s lackey’s Scotch and Kotch show up too, confirming that the new Remake character Leslie, didn’t replace them after all.

Beyond the side characters and villains, the trailer also digs further into the backstories of the main cast — especially Aerith. Viewers will see Tifa lose someone important to her, Cloud’s mother, and revisit how important Aerith’s heritage as one of the Ancients is. Fans also get a look at Barret’s interactions with his little girl and witness some end-game boss fights with Red XIII as a party member.

While the trailer does come chock full of surprises, its biggest reveal probably has to be the mentioning of Zack Fair, an essential character to Final Fantasy 7’s lore. This trailer marks the first time Remake has ever mentioned him. Further description would result in spoilers, but players that are new to the series should look forward to learning more about him.

Sadly, Square Enix has a habit of spoiling its big titles. Both Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy 15 received trailers that spoiled major end-game plot points when the two were on the verge of releasing. Thankfully, there are only seven days left until fans can play the game for themselves — at least, the first episode of it anyway.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake will launch on April 10, 2020, for the PlayStation 4.
