While on the subject of mastered materia, obtaining a complete set of any given type will also unlock an orb of master materia, which allows players to use every associated spell while only taking up a single slot in their weapon or armor. Given how useful this can be, AP farming is, therefore, something of a necessary evil in Final Fantasy 7, and there are a few spots where it can be done both efficiently and effectively.

The Best Spot For AP Farming In Final Fantasy 7 (End Game)

Once players reach the final section of Final Fantasy 7, they’ll gain access to the Northern Crater. Here, they’ll occasionally encounter the Magic Pot enemy, which, after being fed an Elixir, will provide players with 1,000 AP. Given that they are usually fought in pairs, this means that players can earn 2,000 AP in a single battle.

This does mean that players will need a steady stream of Elixirs, though these can thankfully be stolen from the Tonberry enemies that are also found at the Northern Crater or duplicated by using the W-Item glitch. Many of the other enemies found at the crater offer fairly decent AP too, making it the best spot in the game when it comes to mastering materia.

The Best Spot For General Farming In Final Fantasy 7 (End Game)

Though perhaps not quite as profitable in terms of AP, the Gelnika is a great place for all-purpose farming thanks to its unique selection of enemies. The average EXP and AP yield is very good, but that’s far from the only reason to pay a visit to the sunken plane.

Scattered throughout its various areas are enemies that can be morphed into every type of Source (Power, Guard, Luck, Speed, Magic, and Mind). This makes it the perfect spot for those who plan on maxing out every single stat without resorting to item duplication or cheating.

The Best Spot For AP Farming In Final Fantasy 7 (Mid Game)

There are a few places with powerful enemies in the mid-section of Final Fantasy 7, but none of them are quite as good for farming as the Mideel region on the world map. None of the enemies found there are too challenging, and they all provide a healthy amount of EXP and AP; particularly when double or triple AP growth weapons are equipped.

Though most tend to switch to farming other areas as and when they unlock, there are some who choose to stick with Mideel due to how simple it is to farm. Battles tend to be a lot quicker than at other locations, and there’s very little need for player input like there is when farming in the Northern Crater (obtaining and using Elixirs) or inside the Gelnika (choosing the Morph command when needed).
