Final Fantasy 6 Pixel Remaster will serve as the conclusion to a series of remasters of the classic Final Fantasy games that has been slowly releasing since mid-2021. The story of Terra Branford and friends has become one of the most popular entries in the Final Fantasy franchise since it first released in 1994 and has been one of the most highly anticipated entries in the Pixel Remaster hexalogy. With Final Fantasy 6 Pixel Remaster scheduled to release this Wednesday, Japanese publication Famitsu has revealed some significant upgrades to one of the game’s pivotal scenes, the Maria and Draco Opera.

A post from Famitsu’s Twitter account on Monday reveals a suite of upgrades coming to Final Fantasy 6’s iconic opera scene with the remastered version bringing plenty of new visual and audio flare to the scene. Famitsu confirmed that Final Fantasy 6 Pixel Remaster’s opera scene will feature not only enhanced graphics but also has seen the addition of proper singing to the scene. Players will be able to enjoy singing accompanying the famous scene with a choice of seven different languages: Japanese, English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Korean.

The addition of singing to the revamped opera scene is just the most recent in a slew of upgrades Final Fantasy 6 Pixel Remaster will make to the original version. Accompanying improved graphics and a re-mastered soundtrack, Final Fantasy 6 Pixel Remaster’s ESRB rating of T for “Teen” has sparked speculation amongst fans of the game that the remastered version may remove some censorship from the original Western release, whereas previous versions have been given a rating of “E10+.”

The release of Final Fantasy 6 Pixel Remaster on Wednesday will accompany several other high-profile remasters announced in recent weeks by Square Enix. During the February 2022 Nintendo Direct, the company also officially announced the long-rumored Chrono Cross remaster as well as surprise revealing a remaster of the obscure SNES RPG Live A Live releasing for the first time outside of Japan. Between those and major new titles like Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin and Final Fantasy 16 on the horizon, Square Enix has already set expectations for 2022 high for one of the faces of the JRPG genre.

Final Fantasy 6 Pixel Remaster will release on February 23 for PC and mobile devices.
