Beyond the recent claim, there is also the fact that fans were promised new information on Final Fantasy 16 this spring. Spring is here, so looking at the confines of the period may help narrow down when fans can expect this news. It’s a little more complex than that, of course, but it truly should be any day now.

Final Fantasy 16 Spring Reveal
Oftentimes, when people speak about seasons, it’s not usually a set time period. For example, spring officially began on March 20 and ends on June 21. Most people will not think of June as spring, though, but this does mean that an early June reveal isn’t off the table. Still, with March and April over, May makes the most sense right now. There’s a full month ahead, and any day would be a good one for a new Final Fantasy 16 trailer.
Of course, while Square Enix does operate on a worldwide scale, there’s also the fact that it’s a Japanese company to consider. This is important because spring is dated a little differently in Japan. Spring denotes the beginning of the school and fiscal year in Japan, with it officially beginning in March and ending in May. It’s not certain what exact time period for Spring Square Enix was referring to with Final Fantasy 16, but May perfectly lines up with either.
It remains to be seen and, again, early June is possible, but the most likely scenario right now is that Final Fantasy 16’s next reveal takes place sometime this May. That could be at a State of Play event, it could be a dedicated showcase, or any other potential means. The only other potential caveat is that this showcase is delayed out of spring. This doesn’t seem too likely, even if there has been a huge era of delays, as this was said earlier this year and fans have been waiting this long.
After all, if there is some complication fans aren’t aware of, a new trailer would be a good way to alert them. Even with the producer’s comments, video game development is a tricky beast, and that doesn’t mean it releases this year. There’s still plenty to be done once a game is in the final stages, but regardless of how exactly that shakes out, a Final Fantasy 16 trailer and news drop would certainly be welcomed by fans.
Final Fantasy 16 is in development on PS5.
