Final Fantasy 15 tips and tricks: Run and jump

Let’s be honest, for a magic-wielding prince, Noctis’ stamina isn’t great and after a few seconds of sprinting, you’ll be left jogging along at a snail’s pace while he builds himself back up. This means that travelling long distances on foot can be laborious, unless you jump. If you jump when sprinting, you’ll regenerate some stamina mid-flight while keeping the same momentum. While it isn’t the most glamorous way to travel across Lucis, it’s definitely an option.

Final Fantasy 15 tips and tricks: Unlimited stamina

For those that don’t want to make Noctis jump to make him run for longer periods, we have another option – although it’ll take some practising. There’s actually a way to access unlimited stamina, but the game never actually shows you how to activate it. Activate the on-screen stamina bar in the Settings menu then sprint (using Circle on PS4) – wait until the bar is about to run out and let go of the button, before holding it down again a split-second later. If you’ve timed it right, you should see a green glow appear around Noctis and his stamina bar should be instantly refilled, ready to carry on sprinting.

Final Fantasy 15 tips and tricks: Sell your treasures

Gil is harder to come by in Final Fantasy 15 than in previous games in the series, making it much harder to buy the weapons and tools that vendors have to offer. However, while Gil is hard to come by, treasure isn’t – the land of Lucis is full of treasure waiting to be found, with much of this holding decent monetary value. While it’s typical that you’ll want to hold on to all of it “just in case you need it” the chances are you won’t beyond using one or two to enhance your spells. Sell your treasure and buy the things you really need, like weapons or the FFVII soundtrack to listen to in the Regalia.

Final Fantasy 15 tips and tricks: On the hunt

If, for whatever reason, you want to keep your treasures (you hoarder!) then taking part in Hunts is a great way to earn a lot of Gil with little effort – to start with, anyway. Speaking to restaurant owners across Lucis will provide you with a huge number of hunts to partake in. While the lower-level hunts yield little results, the higher the level the monster, the more you’re likely to earn. Most offer at least 2,000gil, which should be enough to stock up on those well-needed elixirs and hi-potions.

Final Fantasy 15 tips and tricks: Relax at a hotel

As you battle your way across the land you’ll gain EXP, and while you may be headed to a haven to camp out and level up Noctis and the team, you may want to reconsider. If you’ve got a lot of EXP to tally up, it may be worth handing over some of your hard-earned Gil for a stay in a hotel. Why? Many hotels offer an EXP bonus, although the exact bonus depends on the hotel and fee for staying. Cheaper caravans will give you a 1.3x EXP bonus, while high-end hotels can offer upwards of a 2x EXP bonus, but with a 10k price tag.

Final Fantasy 15 tips and tricks: Teleport back to the open world

While the second half of the game takes a more linear turn, it’s worth noting that you’re still able to teleport back to the open world when necessary, so there’s no need to complete everything straight away. Even once the game is over and you’ve defeated the final boss, you’ll still be able to wander the open world of Lucis and partake in many of the side quests and hunts available.

Final Fantasy 15 tips and tricks: Warp during battles

It took us a while to properly wield the warp mechanic but once we had, it was crucial in many a battle. Despite having relatively high health, it only takes a few hits to be brought to your knees, even faster if you’re surrounded by a swarm of daemons. Simply teleport where you’re looking to be free from their grasp. You can also warp to warp points to regain HP and MP, and you also can warp strike enemies from behind for a one-hit kill.

Final Fantasy 15 tips and tricks: Stay well fed

You should always eat your greens, like your nana told you to. The premise is similar in Final Fantasy 15, as the wide array of meals available to you both via restaurants and via Ignis’s cooking skills provide various buffs that’ll help you out in-game. These range from HP and Attack boosts to immunity from status effects like poison, or a combination of the three. If you’re heading for a big boss fight, it’s probably worth camping out and having a nice hearty meal first.

Final Fantasy 15 tips and tricks: Hold, don’t tap

We know that button bashing is fun, but Final Fantasy 15 operates in a different way. Instead of constantly bashing the attack button, gamers need only hold the down button, giving them time to analyse the environment and any incoming attacks, as well as being able to switch up the style of attack by pushing the left analogue in a certain direction (up for aerial attacks, etc).
