The matter of Noctis’s crossover event is unclear for the time being. The trailer only served as an announcement for the event and no further details were provided, beyond a targeted release window of mid-April. The trailer shows Noctis fighting alongside the player character through several quests, including a stop by a camping site in a cute throwback to Final Fantasy 15. His event appears to culminate in a fight against Garuda, but who knows just how complex Noctis’s overall event truly is.

As for the Regalia, there’s not much more to be said. It’s Noctis’s car (technically King Regis’s car) from Final Fantasy 15, no Cindy required. Final Fantasy 15’s director described the car as symbolizing the “open world,” so now that spirit of freedom and exploration can be brought to Final Fantasy 14. Odds are this mount is going to be pricey, so expect it to hit the Mog Station at it’s highest mount cost - between $25-30.

The Final Fantasy 15 crossover event in Final Fantasy 14, despite being announced in the midst of several other Shadowbringers announcements, will not be tied to the expansion. Current subscribers will be able to experience whether they buy into Shadowbringers or not. The event, which like previous crossover events will probably be available for just a limited time, is said to be coming around mid-April. That’s well before the lead-up to the July 2 expansion launch will begin.

Final Fantasy 15’s crossover event is the second such announcement of the weekend. Yesterday, during the Final Fantasy 14 FanFest Opening Ceremony, it was announced that Yoko Taro, the creator of Nier: Automata, would be working with Square Enix to create a special “Alliance Raid” based off of his game. A similar project was done with the creator of Final Fantasy Tactics and was extremely well-received. If Taro is involved, it’s all but guaranteed to be interesting. The YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse Alliance Raid will be delivered after Shadowbringers is launched.

Final Fantasy 14 is available now on PC and PS4. The game’s third expansion, Shadowbringers, launches July 2.
