As the second MMORPG in the beloved Final Fantasy franchise by Square Enix, Final Fantasy 14 receives regular content updates in the form of large expansions that add entire continents and storylines to the game along with a reliable stream of smaller patches that improve or expand upon the game in smaller ways. The game’s most recent expansion, Endwalker, was met with extremely positive reviews and was well-liked by the game’s players for successfully concluding a story arc that has been in the works for over a decade. The story isn’t over though, as follow-up patches after Endwalker have brought a series of new story quests, Chronicles of a New Era.

Level 90 Disciples of War or Magic who have completed Endwalker and previous Chronicles of a New Era quests may continue the story by speaking to the Bestectacled Technician in Old Sharlayan. Coinciding with the story update is the return of gentleman inspector extraordinaire, Hildibrand Manderville, in “Somehow Further Hildebrand Adventures.” Players who have completed Endwalker and all previous Hildibrand quests can start this adventure by undertaking “The Sleeping Gentleman” quest from the Excitable Youth in Radz-at-Han. In addition, new side quests have been added, including Custom Deliveries. Players who have completed Endwalker and “Go West, Craftsman” may begin these by speaking to the Well-Dressed Attendant in Old Sharlayan.

Daily tribal quests are now available for the Arkasadora, the elephant-like inhabitants of Thavnair. Coming in patch 6.2, all “beast tribe” quests will be renamed to “tribal quests.” Along with the new story and side quests are a handful of additions and changes typical of a Final Fantasy 14 update. Players may complete a series of quests and daily quests on behalf of the Arkasadora to earn reputation and currency used for purchasing unique rewards. Some balance changes have been made for PvP, such as Ninjas no longer being able to use Sprint while Hidden and Black Mage’s Paradox no longer having charges.

This patch marks a middle point between the larger update 6.10 and the upcoming 6.20, so players have a lot of content to look forward to in the next update. Final Fantasy 14 has earned a solid reputation for its meaningful updates that always bring something new, whether it’s new quests and raids or completely new features like the Adventure Plates system.

Final Fantasy 14 is available now for PC, PS4, and PS5.
