Since the very beginning, Final Fantasy 14 has had numerous references to the land and people of Vana’diel and these references have even found their way to Newfound Adventure through Alzadaal’s Legacy. However, the bond between these two games will never be as strong as during the upcoming Maiden’s Rhapsody event, meant to mark the occasion of Final Fantasy 11’s twentieth anniversary.

The Maiden’s Rhapsody is returning to Eorzea this year and will be available to players from April 28th to May 18th. Given that it’s the same version of the event that ran in 2015, 2017, and 2020 – Final Fantasy 14 players who haven’t completed the event at the time can resume their progress. Players help Remumu, a reporter for the Harbor Herald, in pursuing her latest story by ensuring her safety during the course of her investigations.
The event kicks off in Limsa Lominsa’s Upper Decks with the quest titled “A Journey to Remember.” It celebrates the Rhapsodies of Vana’diel, the last chapter in Final Fantasy 11’s story, as the event follows Iroha – its main heroine. Completing the quest will grant players a complete outfit inspired by Iroha’s armor to glamour over their equipment.
Players who have completed the event in the past – yet wish to do so again – may speak to Remumu to make use of the Seasonal Event Replay feature. It will mark their completed “A Journey to Remember” quest as incomplete, allowing players to embark on the adventure with Remumu and Iroha yet again – though players should bear in mind that the rewards will only be obtainable on the first playthrough.
The Stormblood expansion pack for Final Fantasy 14 was well known for implementing many callbacks to Final Fantasy 11 through the Four Lords questline, featuring the auspices of Genbu, Byakko, Suzaku, and Seiryu. The samurai friend of theirs that they speak of is none other than Tenzen, a reference to the Final Fantasy 11 character who is not only the close friend of the protagonist, but also Iroha’s father.
Given that Naoki Yoshida has teased a “return to Vana’diel” inspired storyline during the course of Stormblood, one has to wonder if any other characters or even lands will feature in a prominent way in Final Fantasy 14’s future.
