To celebrate the launch of Final Fantasy 14’s Patch 6.2, and the farming simulator-like Island Sanctuary content coming with it, the critically-acclaimed MMORPG teamed up with London-based Mudchute Farm to put on a week-long livestream. Affectionately titled, “Mogchute Farm,” the livestream included live footage of the farm animals, activities, and even votes on what types of feed the animals would receive.

Of course, such a fun premise was the perfect setup for creative Final Fantasy 14 fans to work their silly magic. Fans immediately began making farm animal puns about popular Final Fantasy 14 characters; two goats were named Hraesvelgoat and Goatsetsu, and a donkey named Haydes was but some examples.

However, when the camera panned to one chicken, in particular, the wholesome chat exploded. The rooster in question stood on a high perch, rarely leaving the branch, and its color scheme was similar to that of Zenos yae Galvus’ outfit in Endwalker. The outpouring from the crowd was so overwhelming and energetic that Mudchute Farms officially named the rooster Zenos, in honor of the crowd and the occasion.

As one might expect, it took mere moments for Chicken Zenos fan art to flood the internet. Players redrew famous scenes from the game with Chicken Zenos instead of the original, equipped Chicken Zenos with some of his humanoid predecessor’s gear and other outfits, and even drew other Final Fantasy 14 characters as chickens and other farm animals. The farm livestream was even more successful than Final Fantasy 14 could have imagined, with thousands of players watching–even when the animals were just sleeping. The event inspired memes that will last for years.

In addition to the Island Sanctuary system which spawned Chicken Zenos, Final Fantasy 14 Patch 6.2, titled Buried Memory, promises tons of exciting content. In addition to an expanded Main Scenario Quest, Buried Memory is continuing the Pandaemonium raid with a new tier of challenging battles, and adding new types of dungeons and Extreme trials. With more tribal quests and Hildibrand Manderville adventures–including Endwalker’s new Relic Weapon Quests–coming just around the corner in 6.25, Final Fantasy 14 players will have plenty of things to do as the summer comes to an end.

Final Fantasy 14 is available now for PC, PS4, and PS5.
