Just before Christmas Day, during Letter from the Producer Live Part 75, the release date for Final Fantasy 14 Patch 6.3 was revealed. When the update is released on January 10, new main story quests, a new 24-player alliance raid, a significant rework of the paladin Job, and further gameplay and balance updates for PvE and PvP content will be added to the game. Patch 6.3 will also bring a few new housing items that will be added from entries submitted during a previous Furnishing Design Contest that was sponsored by Square Enix.

As previously announced during the Live Letter, Patch 6.3 will add six new wards per housing district, numbered 25 through 30. Each ward will have 60 plots, with five housing districts per server for a total of 1,800 housing plots available for purchase via the housing lottery system. The lottery for these wards will commence on Sunday, January 15, which is one day before the conclusion of the annual Heavensturn holiday. In an official post on the Final Fantasy 14 Lodestone page, Square Enix stated that of the six new plots, one will be exclusive to free companies, one will be for players only, and the other four will be available to both free companies and players. However, players on the Dynamis and Materia datacenters, as well as the Phantom, Sagittarius, Alpha, and Raiden servers will not be able to purchase plots in wards 25 through 30 due to the availability of plots in previously established wards.

On the other hand, with the launch of Patch 6.3, the automatic demolition timer will return to Final Fantasy 14. Players and free companies that have not entered their houses since the timer was paused over a year ago will not have much longer to do so before those plots are demolished and go up for sale to any prospective house seekers. It remains unclear if the lottery or first come, first served system will be applied to demolished plots, so players will have to wait and see when those plots do show up for sale.

As players look forward to enjoying the New Year in Final Fantasy 14, it remains to be seen how fast these new housing plots will go when the lottery kicks off in the middle of January. Between that and a growing number of requests for instanced housing from players, only time will tell what Square Enix will do to improve their housing systems in the future.

Final Fantasy 14 is available now for PC, PS4, and PS5.
